Sea freight

Shipping costs vary depending on a variety of factors:

- type of cargo;

- terms of delivery (Incoterms);

- place of loading (address or port);

- place of cargo delivery (address or port);

- weight and dimensions of the cargo;

- the need for packaging and its options (polypropylene bags, wooden crates, etc.);

- additional services: insurance, customs clearance, etc.;

- the readiness of the cargo and the desired date of delivery.

Once these variables are calculated, a carrier will put a price on your shipment.

The total cost of container sea transportation consists of several components: the basic rate, mandatory surcharges and payment for additional services.

The basic freight rate is the vessel’s freight charge.  The rate depends on various factors, such as the type and size of the container, the port of departure and destination, etc.

Mandatory surcharges are not included in the basic rate and exist to compensate for the costs of the shipowner, which are inconsistent in relation to the direct movement of cargo by sea. This may be the cost of terminals in ports or the purchase of fuel. Such charges apply for each shipment.

Additional services are provided at the customer’s request, in order to expand customer service. For example, cleaning the container after unloading, transporting oversized cargo, hanging the refrigeration unit, etc.
